This Sunday, September 12th, we will feature a number of guests who will be joining us.

Larry & Ann LeLieve will be our guest worship leaders this weekend. Larry and Ann are Pastors with Paul Lucas at Jesus Christ Hope of the Nations. Larry is an amazing electric guitar player. He has been called “one of the best” by some world-class entertainers.

Vegod and Ali Dutt from New Zealand will be ministering to the congregation. They are powerful prophetic ministers. I have asked them to share about the prophetic and if they are led to minister prophetically to our congregation. Because of this, I would like all of the children to remain in service because they might receive prophetic ministry which will be invaluable to their future and destiny. Even if they don’t prophesy to everyone, you will see the power of God in operation. Non-believers will also be impacted by the wisdom, kindness, and power of God if you would like to use this as Sunday to invite your friends.

Because of these special guests joining us, I would like to ask if you would come early at 9:00am to meet and greet our guests. Worship will start immediately afterwards.

Dear Family,

I want to write a few articles to express what I believe the Lord is doing in our midst. If possible I would suggest you keep these articles together, possibly in your CCAK Journal.

Today, I want to chat with you about Transition.

Have you ever said to yourself, “I can’t believe how fast time flies? Things are changing so fast.”

Yes, things do change rapidly in the world we live in today. But I also believe we are in an age of transition. Normally when we think about transition, we are looking forward to the end result of the change. But I want to suggest to you that life is a journey. And I believe from now until the end of time, we will be in a constant state of transitions and changes.

Don’t look back at the past. Don’t long for change to stop. Both are spiritually unhealthy for us in this age.

If we have our hearts and eyes fixed on Jesus and following His leading we will always be right where we need to be no matter what is changing around us.

While we will always be in a state of transition, some transitions are bigger than others. I believe we have made a significant transition by being aligned with Laulima Ministries in the journey of “Advancing the Kingdom.” Read Joshua 3-5.

Just as Israel crossed over the Jordan river and into the promised land, we believe we have crossed over into a new season of church life. Please note the journey of crossing over, setting up an alter of stones to remember what God has done in our midst, consecration and circumcision, and the shift of manna ceasing, and being in the presence of the Commander of the Lord’s Army. These are all significant events which parallel our own journey.

Consider where you are on the journey?

You and I are living in an incredible time! Let’s remain focused on Jesus through all the changes and God will one day acknowledge that we are his “good and faithful sons and daughters.”

Blessings,
Pastor Arlen

Dear Family,

One of the biggest values in this season is family. And it’s not that “‘Ohana means family and family means no one gets left behind.” That’s only for the movies.

Family is more than flesh and blood relationships. Biblically, family in God’s kingdom is anyone who does the will of God. And it’s people who carry the same heart to hear God and obey.

Family also means we care for one another. If you want to do a fun Bible study, use a computer to search for the phrase “one another.” You will find that we are to love, be affectionate, agree, kiss, wait for, care for, serve, forgive, speak songs to, submit to, admonish, comfort, edify, exhort, confess our sins to, be hospitable to, and have fellowship with one another.

Whenever I have a chance, I brag on our church because we do many of these things. You will also find all of us contributing to the life of the church. On any given Sunday, there are not just a few people helping to setup and breakdown. Everyone puts away chairs, everyone cleans up, everyone cooks, everyone contributes. That is the mark of family. In a family, everyone contributes. It’s called chores. John Maxwell said at a conference once, “I do not give my children allowance for their chores, because they are a part of the family and everyone needs to contribute. I do give them money for reading books which I recommend.” That statement is pregnant with meaning and wisdom for us.

We experienced something last week which I didn’t mean to submit you to. For one reason or another our experts in a couple of areas were not at church and that caused others to have to scramble and “fill in”. While we want to do what we do well. We need to learn what each other does and their areas of responsibility. We need to be able to cover each other’s backs and cover each other’s areas of responsibility. There will be times when people will not be available and someone or a few people will need to step in.

This proverb comes to mind: “Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape.”

We are a church family that is focused on missions and we will be sent out to bless other nations and other churches. Someone once gave us a prophetic word like that which said, “You will be sent out to bless nations. This church will impact nations.” Most of the time we can plan fully for those times, but there is coming a time when the Lord will tell you in the morning to go here or there and then you and I must make a choice to obey or not.

We are a family and I am proud and pleased to be a part of our ‘Ohana.

Blessings,
Pastor Arlen

Here’s a message I got in email that I thought was timely for our church so I’m sharing it with you. I will have a summary at church tomorrow.

Pastor Arlen

WHY WE NEED NEW WINE SKINS

“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskin will perish. But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved together. Also no one having drunk old wine immediately desires new, for he says, The old is better.”
Luke 5:37

1. New wine needs new wineskins

2. New wine bursts old wineskins

3.New wineskins preserve wine and skin

4. Old wine is very satisfying and causes indifference to the new wine.

5 This is an either / or issue. You can’t have both new wine and old skins.

1. Thirst for new wine.

2. The wineskins no longer flex. – The form over rules what the Holy Spirit is trying to do.

2. The wineskins split and spill the wine. – Troubles arise due to structures and organizations reacting to new wine.

3. Those raised on the old are satisfied and will not make gthe choices needed to bring in the new wineskin.

Features of the New Wineskin
Here are some features of the new wineskin that is being developed

1. Organizations are changing. We are moving from “highly organized” hierarchical structures, to “highly relational” forms of church. Worldly organizational models are being rejected.

2. We are moving from highly trained experts doing all the ministry, to everyone ministering. Every Christian IS able to be a genuine, fully qualified, authentic, minister of God

3. We are recognizing that “five fold ministries” are placed by God throughout the body and are not limited to paid staff. Five fold ministries can not fully function contained in the system, because the Holy Spirit is not contained.

4. We are moving from control and accountability to an organization to mutual submission and honor of each others gifts.

5. We are shifting from a pastor led model of church to an apostolic model of church. The church NEVER advances under pastors, because they are anointed to care for the flock and focus inward. Apostles carry the vision of advancing the Kingdom and moving outward.

6. Similarly, we are shifting from “outreach” to get people into the church building and organization, to “kingdom advance” to see the Kingdom of God saturate the nation and transform the culture.

7. The result is the venue of ministry is shifting from mainly in the “Church building” to mainly in “the marketplace.” The Kingdom always advances in the world.

The Holy Spirit is telling the church again and again “be ready for my outpouring. Be flexible and responsive to me.” Frankly, the church I know is not ready. We may be willing, but we just don’t now how to break out of the system. We may want God to move, but the only way we can think of, is shuffle the time slot in the service. You see, we are trying to get the new wine to fit the shape of the old inflexible skin. It won’t fit. So it’s time to choose. Either stick with that good old wine and skin that been so satisfying, ( theres nothing wrong with it!) But, if you are thirsty for new wine, you need to set aside that old skin before it bursts, get a new skin and take a great big drink!

God bless you

Early Sunday morning when I woke up, the Lord said to me that He was judging Independence.

That is an interesting statement for the Lord to make on America’s Independence Day July 4, 2010.

I sought the Lord as to what He meant by “He’s judging independence.” It is actually an independent spirit which the Lord is dealing with. An independent spirit comes from an orphan spirit.

Here’s a great handout on the orphan spirit vs. a spirit of sonship.

http://www.shilohplace.org/resource_files/download/4bb6bb1c-c704-4899-a1a5-261d43e3d9b2

I’m still seeking the Lord on this one. But something tells me there is much more to being a child of God than we realize.

I also have a sense that family is an even bigger deal to God than we know. As you read your Bibles, take note of how many stories and references you find to families and relationships.

Read the Bible with fresh eyes as the Lord reveals how many key scriptures there are which deal with relationships. Highlight the words, Father, Son, Young man, etc. You’ll be shocked at how many you find.

Blessings!
Pastor Arlen
